Overview
Master Key Systems (MKS), established in 1994, has distinguished itself as a family-owned business specialising in the manufacture of door cylinder locks tailored for commercial, industrial, healthcare, and educational applications. Renowned for their highly motivated and service-oriented ethos, MKS boasts a production team united in their craft for over 15 years, committed to delivering a range of quality products that serve the intricate needs of various locking applications. Nestled in the historic hub of the UK’s Lock Industry, they command a significant manufacturing and office footprint, bolstered by state-of-the-art technology and a legacy of key-cutting precision.
The problem: In the latter part of 2021, we encountered a challenging opportunity with Master Key Systems. Despite their robust offline reputation, MKS faced a serious challenge in the digital space. Their online presence generated a modest traffic flow, attracting roughly 500 unique visitors a month, a number insufficient for market impact. The bulk of this traffic was directed at lower-margin products, which, while popular, did not contribute substantially to MKS’s profitability.
What we did
The solution: We embarked on a mission to elevate MKS from the digital shadows into the search engine spotlight. Our intervention strategy was twofold: leverage Master Key Systems' unique strengths and pivot their online focus towards their most valuable product - the Euro Cylinder Lock. We recognised that this lock was MKS’s hidden gem, a product that could carve out a niche in the saturated market ruled by giants like Amazon, Screwfix and B&Q.
Our solution was spearheaded by a robust content-first approach. After exhaustive research into both our client’s offerings and the competitive landscape, we generated a series of comprehensive 'pillar post' content pieces. These were not just articles; they were meticulously crafted knowledge hubs centred around the Euro Cylinder Lock, enriched with 3D animations that detailed the intricacies and superior quality of MKS’s offerings.
This strategy was underpinned by our dual expertise in web design and SEO. By redesigning the MKS website, we ensured that it was not just user-centric but also structured in a manner that search engines would favour.
